Weather Review for July 28

While pilots are still in the air as I type this, the conditions today ended up being considerably better than we had hoped for.

With a northwest flow aloft, much drier air moved over the area which capped the convective cumulus enough to not produce anything deep enough to be considered a thunderstorm. With light winds aloft up to 16k, launch winds were perfectly west without increasing much through mid day.

A small patch of high cirrus also moved into the area which helped suppress the max heating a tad. The overall combination of conditions provided a great afternoon for the task called.

Top of lift was lower than anticipated at 15 ish over the high terrain. Cloud based was nearly the same, and was reachable without too much effort today. Lift in the valley and foothills was plentiful but barely reached 12.5k on good climbs.
